The PRODIGY project which full name is PRO.D.I.G.Y-Promoting Disability Inclusion in emergency response in the World of Work, is one of the many European funded projects that EUGENE participates in with the anticipation of producing the digital framework for workplace emergency preparedness for people with disabilities.
In this project the main course will be to educate people with disabilities as emergencies can occur at any time, forcing people to quickly evacuate or make quick decisions to protect themselves.
Evidence show that people with disabilities are often forgotten when companies plan the emergency response plans. The inclusion of persons with disabilities in workplace emergency response is essential for their safety and to realize their labour rights, including through combating discrimination and creating equal opportunities. The PRO.D.I.G.Y. projects aims to train people with disabilities in emergency response through the use of Augmented and Virtual Reality exercises.
To do so: a methodological step-by-step framework will be planned as to to promote workplace emergency planning with disability inclusion.
EUGENE will prepare an online self-assessment tool for companies to identify gaps in their workplace emergency planning and training (including training disabled people and will host the PRO.D.I.G.Y Online Training Platform, as an online interactive course.
