The ADVANCE Project has made significant progress towards its goal and is now entering its final stage. The project’s participating partner organisations from five different countries came together for the 4th Transnational Project Meeting to address the issue of food waste management in municipalities and HoReCa businesses. The meeting, which was hosted in Novi Sad, Serbia on the 5th and 6th of October, provided a platform, where experts from D-Waste (https://d-waste.com/) proposed a comprehensive roadmap to the participating municipalities. The roadmap seeks to significantly reduce the amount of food waste and food loss ending up in landfills by promoting recycling and reuse as sustainable alternatives.

The ADVANCE Project aims to find innovative solutions for food waste management in municipalities and enhance the Circular economy. The project is expected to be completed in February 2024, and all the results and practical tools developed throughout the project will soon be integrated into an open learning platform (https://www.advance-foodwaste.eu/).

The project’s next steps are crucial for a successful completion. Internal and external testing of the roadmaps and training material will be conducted to ensure that the solutions proposed are practical and effective. The ultimate aim is to provide municipalities and HoReCa businesses with the necessary tools and knowledge to make sustainable choices in food waste management. The final learning platform that emerges from the ADVANCE Project will be accessible in five languages: English, Greek, Serbian, Croatian, and Dutch, ensuring that the project’s findings and recommendations can be disseminated more broadly, reaching a diverse audience across Europe.

In conclusion, the 4th Transnational Project Meeting in Novi Sad, Serbia, was a significant milestone in the ADVANCE Project’s journey towards more sustainable food waste management in municipalities. With an open learning platform on the horizon and multilingual resources to empower municipalities and HoReCa businesses, the project continues to advance towards a greener, more sustainable future.
